Liar, Liar, Labour’s Under Fire

Recently Labour have been criticised for their unfulfilled promises and shocking changes. Some argue that the newly elected labour may not be the right political party for the UK.

Before the 2024 UK general election, labour released their manifesto for the public to see, promising 1.5 million homes in 5 years. We all expected Starmer to start making plans for this as soon as he got into power, however still three months after Starmer became Prime minister zero houses have been built under the plan.

After obviously getting criticism for that, he decided to make a plan that would most likely rile up more anger, cutting winter fuel payments for pensioners. There are more than 12 million pensioners in the UK (according to BBC), all of which have to spend significantly more money due to Keir Starmer’s ‘amazing’ idea of removing the winter fuel payments.

Keir Starmer the man who has been in power for 3 months now, can’t even remember that he is prime minister. On around 5 separate occasions, he has called Rishi Sunak prime minister. The man is also clearly thinking about his dinner, as when talking about the war between Gaza and Israel, he was heard saying ‘I call again for the immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the return of the sausages.

Starmer has also been caught taking donations for random things like Arsenal tickets worth £13,000. This wasn’t the only time he was caught accepting donations, in fact, he has accepted over £100,000 of donations (according to the Guardian), for example, the Guardian has said Starmer has received a donation of an £18 million flat, for his son to study for his GSCEs, a privilege that, I’m sure, most students don’t have.

Sure, maybe it’s more acceptable for him to be taking donations than our last prime minister who had a net worth of £651 million (according to Evening Standard) but Keir Starmer is still richer than the average person, while he has a £7.7 million net worth the average UK citizen has a net worth of £172,000.

Is Keir Starmer’s drop in approval rate justified? Maybe Labour isn’t as bad as the Tories, perhaps they are, who’s to decide? Will we ever get out of this loop of bad Prime Ministers, who knows? We will just have to sit and watch how our new country turns out.
